    Cerulean is an Australia-only social application available on the Apple App Store. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect personal information when you use the Cerulean app.

    By creating an account, you confirm that you have read and agreed to this Privacy Policy and the End User License Agreement (EULA), which is presented during onboarding before account creation.

    1. Scope and Jurisdiction

    Cerulean is available only to users located in Australia.

    This Privacy Policy is governed by Australian law, including the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

    Cerulean is designed to align with Australian online safety expectations, including principles promoted by the Australian eSafety Commissioner. This alignment does not represent endorsement, approval, or certification by any government authority.

    2. Information We Collect

    We collect only the information necessary to operate the app safely and effectively.

    2.1 Account Information

    • Name or display name

    • Username

    • Email address

    • Profile photo

    This information is required to create and maintain your account.

    2.2 User Content

    • Posts, comments, reactions, and profile status

    • Messages and interactions you choose to send or share

    • Profile activity and connection-related actions

    You control what content you share, subject to community standards.

    2.3 Device and Usage Data

    • Device type and operating system

    • App version and basic diagnostic data

    This data is used for reliability, security, and performance monitoring.

    2.4 Privacy and Security Settings

    • Verification status

    • Messaging and visibility preferences

    These settings control how others can interact with you.

    2.5 Moderation and Safety Data

    • Reports you submit

    • Reports made about content or accounts

    • Blocked accounts

    • Moderation actions taken

    This data is used solely to maintain safety, enforce rules, and prevent harm.

    3. How We Use Your Information

    We use your information to:

    • Operate and personalise the app

    • Display your profile and content according to your settings

    • Manage connections and messaging

    • Review reports and enforce community standards

    • Detect, prevent, and respond to misuse, harassment, impersonation, and harmful behaviour

    • Improve app performance, security, and reliability

    Cerulean does not sell personal data and does not use personal data for advertising.

    4. Reporting and Moderation

    Reporting tools are built into the app to support safety and accountability.

    • Reports are confidential

    • The reported account is not informed who submitted a report

    • Reports are reviewed by moderation systems and, where necessary, human reviewers

    • Actions may include content removal, restrictions, or account removal

    • Repeated or serious violations may result in permanent action

    Reporting data is used only for safety, moderation, and compliance purposes.

    5. Sharing of Information

    We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

    5.1 With Other Users

    What others can see depends on your privacy settings, post visibility, and approved connections.

    5.2 Service Providers

    Cerulean uses Google Firebase for secure hosting, data storage, analytics, and moderation support.

    Service providers process data only under our instructions and security requirements.

    5.3 Legal and Safety Obligations

    Information may be disclosed where required to:

    • Comply with Australian law

    • Respond to lawful requests

    • Address serious safety risks or harm

    5.4 With Your Consent

    When you choose to post, message, or share content.

    6. Data Security

    We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including:

    • Encrypted data transmission

    • Secure, access-controlled storage

    • Restricted internal access

    • Ongoing security monitoring

    No system is completely secure, but we actively work to minimise risk.

    7. Data Retention and Deletion

    • Your data is retained while your account is active

    • When you delete your account, your posts, profile, and connections are removed

    • Some moderation or safety data may be retained where required to:

    • Prevent repeat abuse

    • Support investigations

    • Meet legal or regulatory obligations

    We do not retain data longer than necessary.

    8. Your Rights

    You can:

    • Access and update your account information

    • Change privacy and verification settings

    • Delete posts or content you have shared

    • Block or report other users

    • Request full account deletion

    You are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the information you provide.

    9. Age Requirement

    Cerulean is restricted to users aged 18 years or older.

    You must confirm your age during onboarding. Account creation cannot proceed without this confirmation.

    10. Relationship to the EULA

    Use of Cerulean is also governed by the End User License Agreement (EULA).

    The EULA sets behavioural rules and consequences for misuse.

    Violations of the EULA may result in moderation action regardless of account status.

    11. Changes to This Policy

    We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in law, safety practices, or app functionality.

    • Updates will be made available in-app

    • Continued use of Cerulean after changes means acceptance of the updated policy
